Someone said we ought not to refer to ourselves as empty nesters but launch pads. The wording is less negative. And I wondered why the world revolves around the word positivity to the point that any view that differs from theirs is said to be negative. Yes, in difference there is opposition but neither side is intrinsically positive, particularly when outside of absolutes.
Outside of absolute, all is relative. Whether is is our views, our moral code, our laws, our rulings and so on.
I have been in an empty hangar, walked around the desolate grounds. Barren of planes and people, there too is emptiness. A launch pad readies one to leave and another to be left behind. They are one and the same in a way.
The difference is in the intention. A pad is set up for the launch, all the plans, all the spending, all the preparations are towards one goal: to set free, to give wings, to allow flight. The understanding is that the plane, the bird is to leave.
An empty nester is simply left behind, as if leaving the nest though a possibility was really an after thought.
What do I make of your leaving you ask.
Oh! little bird I have yet to set you free nor ever will be able to, for wherever I am, as are you: in my mind, my thoughts, my prayers, my plans, my eyes you have and my goals.
For that I beg your forgiveness!
